HOW CAN A BRIDGE RECONNECT NEW YORKERS TO THE WATERWAYS?
Bridge Camp is a month-long celebration of the waterways offering New Yorkers hands-on experiences in the skills and traditions on which the city was built as well as those that will sustain the city in the coming years. Starting two weeks before the Citizen Bridge crossing, and extending two weeks after, Bridge Camp offers the opportunity for New Yorkers to become Citizens of the Water.
In partnership with waterfront institutions pioneering education and community engagement on the water, Bridge camp will offer New Yorkers opportunities to build boats, row, paddle and pilot vessels of all types, learn water safety, water quality testing, and take free swimming lessons. They will also have the chance to interact with acqua robots, and leading edge marine technologies that are defining our future.
